The classic London Plane trees on my street have the most beautiful bark.
Attempting to find out more about the Platanus x acerifolia online I found that there are several different types around London: The 'Augustine Henry', the 'Liberty', the 'Pyramidalis', the 'Suttnerii', the 'Westminster Form' and so on. There's even a type found mainly in Hackney!
Unfortunately my street does not figure on the specimens list so I still don't know which type they are.
